CARVED GOLD LEAF LETTERING
The best way to show off a carved letter is gold leaf. Nothing expresses the highlights and shadows better during the daytime than gold leaf. Carved letters are elegant, but expensive. They are also somewhat difficult to light at night. If poorly lighted at night, the sign can be difficult to read.

The letter rises above a flat background. The face of the letter is V-shape.

CARVED PAINTED LETTERING

Far less expressive of the highlights and shadows than gold leaf. Dark letters are not a great option with carved lettering, as the highlight and shadows have little or no contrast.

FLAT CUT LETTERING

A flat-faced letter that rises above a flat background. It can be made from a variety of materials, and a variety of thicknesses. This is an excellent way to show your company's name on the outside of your building or inside a reception area or conference room.
